Ben Simmons on Joel Embiid: ‘We never truly talked’

Nets star Ben Simmons says he “never truly had a relationship” with his ex-Philadelphia 76ers colleague Joel Embiid, and that the two have not spoken since the blockbuster exchange last season.

Simmons, during a sitdown interview with ESPN in Milwaukee, said he didn’t think about it literally when Sixers fans booed him while he was on the seat during the Nets’ Walk 10 matchup in Philadelphia last season.

The star forward said he’s anticipating really playing against his previous group at the Wells Fargo Center on Nov. 22.

“F- – – , I can hardly hold back to go there, no doubt,” he told ESPN. “In any case, as far as I might be concerned, all that’s an encounter and a learning circumstance. So for my purposes, I’m ready to learn something that I’ve never experienced. I’ve never been exchanged and played against a group that I got exchanged from. Kev [Kevin Durant] has, Ky [Kyrie Irving) has, a ton of folks have, yet I’ve never been in that situation, so — you need to go through it.

“Ky returned to Boston, and he didn’t play well, however it’s a ton. We’re individuals, as well. We need to go out there and refute everybody.”
Obviously, there will be show. Simmons will play both against a previous lead trainer in Doc Streams and a co-star in Embiid who blamed everything on him after the 76ers lost Game 7 of the second round of the 2021 NBA End of the season games against the Atlanta Birds of prey. Waterways recommended he was uncertain Simmons could be the point gatekeeper of a title group and generally as of late declined to ponder his time instructing Simmons during the 76ers’ preseason-opening excursion to Brooklyn.

Embiid absolutely faulted Simmons for the misfortune after Simmons turned down an open dunk and on second thought passed the ball to a shot: partner: “I don’t have the foggiest idea how to say it,” Embiid said after that game, “yet I thought the defining moment was we had an open shot, we missed and we made one free toss.”
Simmons, in any case, said he and Embiid were never as close of companions as their prosperity as partners would demonstrate.

“I don’t converse with Jo,” he said. “We never truly talked.

“I don’t think there was actually a relationship there. Like concerning a fellowship? You can make a respectable attempt as you need to attempt to be near someone, be their companion, anything that it is, yet everybody is different as individuals, so as far as I might be concerned, it’s rarely private. I have no resentment or disdain towards him. He is the kind of person he is and I’m who I’m. What’s more, we have our own lives. What’s more, work is b-ball, so at that time, I want to win and I got to win with Jo. He’s an extraordinary player, we simply didn’t make it happen.”

Simmons let ESPN know that triumphant a title in Brooklyn “would mean the world” to him and it “would be a little glimpse of heaven.”

“In a circumstance like this, being in Brooklyn with these folks and this city, it would be mind blowing,” he proceeded. “We got far to go, yet I think this group’s fit for extraordinary things.”

Simmons likewise expressed he’s in the best spot he’s been in some time.

“I suspect as much,” he said. “Guess what? I know so.”
