Toronto city hall leader leaves, concedes undertaking with ex-staff member: ‘In particular, I am sorry to my better half’

The city chairman of Toronto said Friday he was venturing down in the wake of owning up to an improper relationship with a previous staff member.

City hall leader John Conservative made the unexpected declaration at a news meeting Friday night, about an hour after The Toronto Star distributed a report uncovering the issue.
“During the pandemic, I fostered a relationship with a representative in my office in a way that didn’t satisfy the guidelines to which I hold myself as chairman and as a relative,” Conservative, 68, told journalists in a concise location from Toronto City Lobby.
